Jose Luiz Gonzalez and Antonio “Pincho” Fernandez are landing in Egypt with serious momentum and the men’s draw can feel it. Fresh off a title run in Mallorca last month and still burning from a painfully close push for another final in Bahrain earlier this month, the Spanish pair step into the FIP Silver Wadi Padel Tournament, running through Saturday, as the undisputed top seeds.
But the road to the trophy is anything but quiet. Victor Mena is back with confidence after reaching the semifinals at the FIP Bronze in Doha, and now he teams up with Marcos Gonzalez, who kicks off his 2026 season under the Egyptian sun. Behind them, the seeded pack is bristling with ambition, led by the third seeds, the exciting 2007 born talent Alejandro Calvo alongside Nicolas Suescun, a duo with the kind of pace that turns rallies into chaos.
And the international charge is real. French standouts Johan Bergeron and Timeo Fonteny are in town with intentions, not postcards, and Fonteny, returning to competition, set the tone before stepping on court, saying he is motivated to take on this new challenge against a very competitive field.
While the men chase FIP Silver glory, the women bring their own battle at FIP Bronze level, making Wadi a full week of pressure points, big moments, and padel that does not let you breathe.
