Kuwait witnessed a padel blockbuster as second seeds Alejandro Galán and Federico Chingotto once again cracked the code against the sport’s top duo, Arturo Coello and Agustín Tapia, to seize the inaugural FIP World Cup Pairs crown. And the shocks didn’t stop there: in the women’s final, Paula Josemaría and Ariana Sánchez stunned top seeds Gemma Triay and Delfina Brea to take the title too.
Coming in with serious momentum—fresh off beating Coello–Tapia at Premier Padel Milano P1 in early October and again at the recent Düsseldorf P2—Galán and Chingotto were widely tipped as co-favourites. Still, the numbers added spice: this was the 11th final between the two elite pairings, with Tapia and Coello holding a 7–3 head-to-head edge.
The final began with the top seeds hitting like a hurricane. Coello and Tapia unleashed their trademark aggression and blistering pace, overwhelming “Chingalán” to grab the opening set 6–1 and put one hand on the trophy.
Then the match turned—and it turned loudly. In the second set, Galán and Chingotto delivered a clinic in grit, discipline, and adjustments. They tightened their defense, steadied the tempo, and started winning the psychological battle point by point, forcing errors and dragging rallies into uncomfortable territory. The reward: a hard-earned 7–5 set that yanked the final back to level terms.
With everything on the line in the decider, the usual Coello–Tapia artillery misfired at key moments. Galán read the smashes and sent them back with interest, while Chingotto became a wall—unshakeable, relentless, refusing to let a ball die. Riding that balance and momentum, Galán and Chingotto surged away to a commanding 6–2 third set, officially crowning them pairs world champions until the next FIP World Cup Pairs edition in 2027.
The title is trophy number eight this season for Galán and Chingotto. Tapia and Coello still lead the season haul with 10, but the gap is tightening fast: “Chingalán” sit just 680 points behind in the race for the world No. 1 seeding, with 4,800 points still available before the season closes.
On the women’s side, second seeds Ariana Sánchez and Paula Josemaría matched the men’s drama by taking down top seeds Gemma Triay and Delfina Brea to claim the women’s trophy—another statement win in a tournament that turned expectations into confetti.
