New Pairings, Big Statements: Riyadh Day 3 Lights Up the Arena

SUMMARY

Debut wins for three new top pairings as Riyadh Day 3 delivers fireworks. Meanwhile, Coello-Tapia survive twin tiebreaks and a qualifier duo keeps dreaming.

At the Padel Rush Arena, Day 3 hit like a thunderclap: first outings, fresh chemistry, and instant results. The Premier Padel “women’s revolution” rolled onto center stage with three new pairings formed from the world’s top four—and every single debut ended in a win.

Paula Josemaría and Bea González opened their new chapter with authority, brushing aside Noa Cánovas and Laia Rodríguez 6-3, 6-2 in the Round of 16 of Riyadh Season P1. Not to be outdone, Ari Sánchez and Andrea Ustero showed both speed and steel—storming the first set 6-0 before holding their nerve in a tense second-set tiebreak to beat Marta Talaván and Sofía Saiz 6-0, 7-6. Then came Claudia Fernández and Sofía Araújo, digging in when it got tight and powering past Araceli Martínez and Carolina Orsi 7-5, 6-3.

In a day full of new looks and new alliances, there was also a familiar confirmation: Delfi Brea and Gemma Triay launched their 2026 with a clean 6-3, 6-3 win over Martina Fassio and Patty Llaguno—calm, clinical, and exactly the kind of message champions send early.

On the men’s side, the fairytale keeps rolling for Javi Martínez and Rama Valenzuela. Starting all the way from the qualifiers, the Spanish-Argentine duo marched into the quarters by defeating Manuel Castaño and Iñigo Jofre 6-4, 6-3—and now they’ve earned the biggest spotlight yet: a quarter-final clash with Juan Lebrón and Leo Augsburger, set to close the schedule on Court 1.

Arturo Coello and Agustín Tapia, after dropping a set in their opening match against Guichard and Blanqué, answered in the Round of 16 with a two-tiebreak straight-sets win over Jairo Bautista and Lucas Campagnolo—tight, tense, and top-tier when it mattered most.

Elsewhere, the contenders kept the pace blistering. Fede Chingotto and Ale Galán (2) handled Javi García and Javier Barahona 6-3, 6-2, while Mike Yanguas and Franco Stupaczuk (3) overcame Alex Ruiz and Juanlu Esbri. And hats off to Edu Alonso and Juan Tello, who survived a three-set battle—6-2, 4-6, 7-5—sending Momo González and Martín Di Nenno (6) home after a rollercoaster finish.
